Hi to all my friends, family and anyone else who is reading this.

As you may know I am currently writing a book under the working title "Booze!”

It’s going to be a semi autobiographical fiction/non-fiction fusion which will chart the history of my personal experiences with alcohol mixed in with some anecdotes.  It will also look at the more serious side of habitual drinking and consider whether my drinking habits (or possibly anyone’s) would constitute a problem.  This is intended to be interspersed with amusing, thought provoking and frightening facts about alcohol.  It’s going to be primarily aimed at the UK market.

I have started keeping a booze diary to see what I actually drink, rather than the glib estimates I would normally give to the doctor, and then I thought it would be a good idea if I got some of my friends to do the same to make a comparison and see if my experiences are normal or uncommon.

So I am looking for volunteers to keep a diary for the month of March 2010 and, if it is successful, extending this into April and May.  I will send you a simple spreadsheet or word document or you can chose how you wish to record your diary which I will ask you to complete weekly.  There will be a minimum of information you need to provide about the amount you drink but any other details you are willing to give would be welcome.  I will explain it in the email I will send.

There are a couple of rules.

  • You have to be over 18 to take part,
  • You have to be honest,
  • You shouldn’t take part if you are a teetotaller or cannot drink for medical, religious or any other reasons.

I also wouldn’t take part if you have a serious drinking habit or are an alcoholic.  However, if you would like to have an input to the book and add to its underlying message then it would be very much welcomed.

I'm trying to get a cross section view of some of the general drinking public’s social consumption habits.  Please feel free to pass this onto any of your friends.

For my part I promise to keep all personal and specific information private and strictly confidential and will publish absolutely no individual’s information without your express approval.  I will only use the data for assessing general trends.

If you would like to take part please email me at booze@swellsy.co.uk – I will be happy to answer any questions you have

WARNING!! PLEASE DON'T PUBLISH ANYTHING TO THIS PAGE, MY FACEBOOK PAGE OR SEND IT TO ME BY ANY MEANS OTHER THAN PRIVATE EMAIL TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS IF YOU WANT IT KEPT PERSONAL OR PRIVATE.
